An Ezy innovative Aid for tube feeding

Take away the trauma of tube feeding

Around 280,000 Australians (including 80,000 children) rely on a NasoGastric (NG) or Orogastric (OG) tube for sustenance. Millions more around the world need to be tube fed due to the impact of eating issues and complex health conditions.

The existing approach to fitting and changing an NG or OG tube takes a toll on patients, caregivers and healthcare staff. The trauma of tube feeding can result in ongoing health issues, including the development of oral aversion in infants and young children.

Everyone is affected

CHILDREN/PATIENTS

Tube changes are often painful and uncomfortable, with the tape causing irritation, particularly when wet. This weakens the adhesion and leads to more frequent tube changes.

PARENTS/CAREGIVERS

Runny noses, sweat and bath time threaten tube integrity and lead to more frequent changes. With two people required to complete each change, it takes a toll on parents and caregivers.

HEALTHCARE STAFF

The health care sector is under increasing stress. It’s hard to find resources to conduct each change and difficult to justify the mounting costs of wasted tape, tubing and materials.

A new (less traumatic) approach

EzyAid is a simple and practical solution that alleviates the need for adhesive tape to hold a feeding tube in place. Durable, efficient and easily applied, EzyAid saves time, money and resources, while reducing unnecessary tube changes (plus unnecessary trauma).

EzyAid: A labour of love

Jess Hay and Adam Geostis created EzyAid to reduce the trauma of tube feeding for their son, Matthew. One of only 300 kids in the world living with MED-13L Syndrome, Matty developed an oral aversion to food due to the discomfort involved with frequent tube changes. Jess and Adam were determined to do everything possible to reduce his distress.
